The 21st of January 2014 was held in Brussels the 2nd Technical Committee (TC) Workshop of the ZEMedS project. The session counted with the attendance of renowned experts in the field of nearly Zero-Energy Buildings, as well as with ZEMedS technical partners.
During the workshop key issues such as renovation strategies, indoor air quality (IAQ), passive heating and cooling measures, user-related issues and how to fund these operations in Mediterranean (MED) schools were discussed among the attendants.
How to deliver simple and comprehensive technical and financial decision tools to building designers and policy makers to build a successful renovation strategy for each school is one of the main challenges when talking about nearly Zero-Energy Buildings in MED climates, and is one of the targets of ZEMedS project.
Finally, it was highlighted the social benefit that comes from an appropriate environment for learning as well as the importance of involving users and families for a better indoor environment and energy use.
